When should a shingle underlayment be used?
Top shingles overlap and are not sealed at all corners, can be lifted by strong winds becoming vulnerable to tear-off and infiltration by wind-driven rain. Underlayment is extremely important (2nd level of protection) in a quality roof system.
There are three main types of roofing underlayment:
- Felt Paper (15-30 lb) / Water Resistant
- Synthetic / Waterproof / 10x Stronger Than Felt Paper
- Ice & Water Barrier / Waterproof / Nail-Proof
Memphis Roofing installs 15-20% more underlayment than its competitors.
